THE WARWICKSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (NAPTON ROAD, STOCKTON AND STOCKTON ROAD, LONG ITCHINGTON) (30 MPH & 40 MPH SPEED LIMIT) (VARIATION NO. 1) ORDER 2017

Warwickshire County Council propose to make the following variation orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to extend the 30 mph speed limit on Napton Road, Stockton as described in the Schedule below and to make some minor amendments to the wording of the existing orders:-

  1. The Warwickshire County Council (Napton Road, Stockton and Stockton Road, Long Itchington) (30 mph & 40 mph Speed Limit) (Variation No. 1) Order 2017;
  2. The Warwickshire County Council (Various Roads, Stockton & Napton) (50 mph Speed Limits) (Variation No. 1) Order 2017; and
  3. The Warwickshire County Council (Various Streets, Napton on the Hill) (30 mph and 40 mph Speed Limit) (Variation No. 1) Order 2017

A copy of the proposed variation orders, together with a copies of the orders to be varied, a plan showing the length of road affected and a statement of the Council’s reasons for proposing to make the variation orders, may be inspected at the Warwickshire County Council Main Reception, Shire Hall, Market Place, Warwick; at the Stratford-on-Avon District Council, Elizabeth House, Church Street, Stratford upon Avon; and at the Public Library at Tithe Place, High Street, Southam during usual opening hours.

That length of Napton Road in Stockton which extends in a south-easterly direction from its junction with the A426 Rugby Road, to a point 80 metres south-east of its junction with the centreline of Station Road.

1.           STATEMENT OF REASONS

  • Warwickshire County Council is proposing to extend the existing 30mph speed limit on Napton Road, Stockton in a south-easterly direction to a point 80m south-east of the centre line of its junction with Station Road.
  • The scheme will involve the use of speed limit traffic signs.
  • A new speed limit with reduced vehicle speeds will help to improve road safety and the environment for residents and cyclists on approach to the village of Stockton from the south-east.

C33 Napton Road, Stockton

That length of the C33 Napton Road in Stockton which extends in a south-easterly direction from its junction with the A426 Rugby Road to a point 80m south-east of its junction with the centreline of Station Road.

3.           EXISTING ORDERS TO BE AMENDED/REVOKED

The Warwickshire County Council (Napton Road, Stockton and Stockton Road, Long Itchington) (30mph & 40mph speed limit) Order 2012 – in Schedule 1 (30mph speed limit) delete existing wording and replace with

  1. Napton Road, Stockton

That length of Napton Road in Stockton which extends in a south-easterly direction from its junction with the A426 Rugby Road to a point 80m south-east of its junction with the centre line of Station Road.

The Warwickshire County Council (Various Roads, Stockton and Napton) (50mph speed limits) Order 2014 – in Schedule (50mph speed limits) delete item 4 and replace with

  1. Napton Road

From a point 80 metres south-east of its junction with Station Road, south-eastwards to where Napton Road becomes Stockton Road.

delete item 5 in its entirety

delete item 7 and replace with

  1. Stockton Road

From a point 47 metres north-west of its junction with Butt Hill/Tomlow Road, north-westwards to where Stockton Road becomes Napton Road.

The Warwickshire County Council (Various Streets, Napton on the Hill) (30mph and 40mph speed limit) Order 2005 – in Schedule 2 (30mph speed limits) delete item 14 and replace with

  1. Stockton Road

From its junction with Butt Hill/Tomlow Road north-westwards for a distance of 47 metres.
