Alcester Town Centre – 20mph Zone and Traffic Calming

Approval was given earlier in 2015 for the introduction of a 20mph Zone covering High Street, Church Street, Henley Street, Kinwarton Road and adjacent side roads.

Further to this, Warwickshire County Council propose to extend this 20mph Zone into School Street & adjoining roads, Gunnings Road, a section of St Faiths Road, Crooks Lane & adjacent roads.

A copy of a plan showing the proposed extents of the extended 20mph Zone can be found by following the link below:

1. TR/9672-01 20mph Consultation Plan (pdf, 962 kB)

The nature of the majority of these roads means that speeds are already relatively low.  However, to ensure compliance with the proposed speed limit, traffic calming is proposed in School Road where longer sections of straight road mean that current speeds are more varied.  A copy of a plan showing the proposed locations of four sets of speed cushions can be found by following the link below:

Further information and descriptions of the lengths of roads in question can be found on the Statement of Reasons (pdf, 18 kB), the Public Notice (pdf, 18kB), and a copy of the original Order to be varied (pdf, 360 kB).

A physical copy of the proposed Order, together with a copy of an Order to be varied, a plan showing the lengths of road affected by the variation and the proposed speed cushions, and a statement of the Council’s reasons for proposing to make these changes, may be inspected at the Main Reception, Shire Hall, Market Place, Warwick, at the Stratford-upon-Avon District Council, Elizabeth House, Church Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, CV37 6HX and at Alcester Library and Information Centre, Priory Road, Alcester, Warwickshire, B49 5DZ during usual opening hours.

Any enquiries relating to the proposals may be made to Phil Mitton, Communities Group, Warwickshire County Council (telephone number: 01926 412536). Any objections to the proposals, which must be in writing and specify the grounds on which they are made, should be addressed to Phil Mitton, Communities Group, PO Box 43, Shire Hall, Warwick, CV34 4SX.  (Objections will normally be treated as public documents and may be communicated to other persons affected.)  Objections must be sent so as to be received by 8 January 2016.
